Life is Short, It’s Time To Thrive At Life

I think one of the most significant questions we can ask ourselves is:  “If I knew I had limited time left here on earth, would I change anything?… Am I living the life I would want to live?… The one I believe God is calling me to live?”

Many of us go through life never stopping to ask that question, or we find ourselves asking it for a brief second when tragedy happens, or we know someone whose life was taken far too soon.  But then, we fall right back into our everyday life.

Living the life we desire requires purpose and intention.

For some, it may mean creating a budget for the first time.

Maybe for some, it means finally making that appointment to see a Counselor to deal with past hurt and trauma.

Maybe for some, it’s finally time to tweak time management skills because there never seems to be enough time in a day, and burnout is fast approaching.

Maybe for some, it’s finding accountability and getting your health back on track.

Maybe for some, it’s saying “no” to some “good” opportunities so you can say “yes” to the right ones.

Maybe for some, it’s finally opening up about your struggles to a close friend or loved one because you know you shouldn’t be doing life alone.

In 2009, my husband and I sat down in our living room discouraged, overwhelmed, and completely burned out.  We had just gone through some of the biggest stressors life can bring: a new position, a new city, a new baby, and nothing seemed to be going well. We were tired and knew we couldn’t continue this way…and we didn’t want to.  We sat down in our living room and asked the question, “What would it take for us to thrive in life?”  It’s a question we have continued to ask ourselves since that day. It’s one that reset the trajectory of our life and marriage. It’s the reason and our passion behind our coaching and writing.

We don’t have all the answers and promise life won’t be perfect just by asking that one question.  But, what we found is by evaluating core areas of our life, figuring out what is working and what’s not, we are living a life on purpose and one that we truly enjoy.

For us, those core areas include:

Spirituality
Family
Finances
Fun
Physical & Mental Health

Take some time today and write down what it would take for you to thrive in each of these categories.  Or, maybe you have categories of your own.

Whatever it takes to thrive in life, don’t wait.  Don’t wait until you’ve lived your life and have regrets.  No one is perfect in life, but we all have choices.

I would be honored to walk this journey with you.  But, even if you don’t choose me, find a coach, mentor, counselor or friend.  Choose the hard work to create the life you know you were created to live.
